Seychelles · choosing the format
Seychelles yacht trip: a cabin on a shared boat or a private charter
The words cabin, cruise and charter lead to three different products. Choose the format first and compare prices second — otherwise a bare hull rate ends up sitting next to a full week with crew and full board, and the cheaper number wins an argument it should never have been in.

Cabin, bareboat and crewed charter are three different products
Compare control of the route, who else is aboard and the full list of obligatory services — not the headline figure.
| Format | Who is aboard | How the price is built | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| A cabin on a shared boat | Strangers and a shared crew | Public offers on selected 2026 dates run from roughly EUR 1,290 to EUR 1,690 per person | Whether the price is current, the dates, the route, meals, single supplement and the group rules |
| Bareboat | Your group only, no crew included | Hull rate plus skipper, provisioning, fuel, cleaning, fees and a deposit | Skipper qualification, liability cover, the compulsory extras |
| Crewed private yacht | Your group only and a confirmed crew | The whole yacht; for 2–6 guests the guidance is EUR 14,500–16,500 for 7 nights | The named yacht, crew berths, meals, fuel, parks, marinas, transfers and cancellation terms |

Can you rent a single cabin in the Seychelles
Yes — several operators sell it. You buy a berth or a cabin; the yacht, the route, the dates and the other guests are shared. It is not a private charter and it does not give a group its own rhythm.
Public offers checked on 11 August 2026 showed selected seven-night dates at roughly EUR 1,290 to EUR 1,690 per person. That is a market reference, not an Ocean Safari Club price: on an enquiry we check the live schedule, the specific yacht, the meal plan and the operator’s contract for your dates.
When a private charter is the right answer
A private yacht suits a family, a group of friends or two couples who care about privacy, their own pace and a layout they can see in advance. For 2–6 guests the guidance is calculated on one crewed yacht; for 7–12 we compare one larger yacht against two.
A private route still depends on the weather and the captain’s judgement. Agreeing a list of islands is not a promise to visit them in an unchanged order, and any operator who promises otherwise is describing a brochure rather than the sea.
Why the prices you find differ so wildly
A bareboat rate frequently excludes the skipper, the cook, provisioning, fuel, cleaning, park and marina fees, transfers, the deposit and liability cover. On a shared cruise the cost is divided among strangers. A full crewed charter carries a different volume of service and of responsibility.
An honest comparison needs the same dates, the same number of nights, the model and year of the yacht, the number of guest cabins, separate crew berths, meals, fuel, local charges, transfers, cancellation terms and one total for the whole group.
What to send us for an accurate match
Dates or a month, the number of adults and children, who shares with whom, whether only a private yacht will do or a cabin is acceptable, meals, diving, and the budget for the group.
You first receive a comparison of the formats and a working reference. The specific yacht, the operator, availability, the full price and the terms are all confirmed before any booking or payment.
Common questions
- How does a cabin on a shared boat differ from a private charter?
- In a cabin you share the vessel and the schedule with people you have not met, and the route is fixed in advance. On a private charter the boat is yours entirely, the route and pace can change as you go, and the price is calculated for the group rather than per person.
- Which works out cheaper for six people?
- Usually the private charter: the cost of the boat and crew is divided among everyone aboard. For two travellers a cabin is cheaper, and the difference starts to turn at around four guests.
- Which fees are paid separately in both cases?
- Fees are set in Seychelles rupees and depend on the route: SPGA marine parks run from SCR 200 at Sainte Anne to SCR 300 at Curieuse per person per day, the private reserves Cousin SCR 600 and Aride SCR 650, Vallée de Mai SCR 450. The environmental levy is SCR 100 per person per night; crew and children of 12 and under are exempt.
- Can we mix the two — a cabin now and a charter later?
- Yes, and for a first visit it is often sensible. A shared cabin week shows you the inner islands cheaply; a private charter is then chosen knowing which anchorages you actually want and how long you want to stay in each.
